After 12 years of productive partnership, the Joint-Venture between Duferco and Nucor is approaching to end. The two partners reached a friendly agreement stating that Duferco will reacquire the 50% now belonging to Nucor, becoming the exclusive owner of the company.
The financial closing is expected to occur during the first days of December, after the all-clear from the European Authority for Competition.
In an interview appeared on Il Sole 24 Ore, Antonio Gozzi, president of Duferco Italia said: «Being in partnership with the first American steel producer for such a long time has been a real honor for Duferco. This was a real partnership and not only a financial relationship. I hope that in the next future we will work again with Nucor, as we know and respect each other. Now it is time for us to follow our path, we couldn’t wait.
The Americans wanted to postpone, because they couldn’t justify the investment in such a complicated year».
