Duferco Travi e Profilati keeps the long-term commitment to sustainable development: the plants in San Zeno Naviglio and Pallanzeno obtained the validation of the self-declared claim that confirms the minimum content of recycled material, according to the UNI EN ISO 14021 norm.
The certification is issued by IGQ, the Italian organization for quality assurance, and validates the self-declared environmental claim for continuous casting products, beams and Blackstone (aggregate).
In particular, the following products have been submitted to analysis:
- Continuous casting products (steel blooms, billets, steel round bars and beam blank) with a minimum content of recycled material of 92%;
- Steel beams (beams, angles, wide flat and special profiles from hot-rolling process) with a minimum content of 92% of recycled material;
- Blackstone, with a minimum content of 100% of recycled material.
The certification proves once more the company and the whole group’s commitment toward sustainability and the reduction of environmental impacts. It certifies the value and the quality of the circular model of the EAF steelmaking process, which has always characterized the business and activities of Duferco’s steel division.
The ferrous scrap represents the main raw material of the production process that begins in San Zeno Naviglio and goes on in the other rolling mills of Duferco Travi e Profilati. Indeed, the steel production starts with the recovery and enhancement of a resource that would have represented a waste to be processed and disposed of. This has two positive effects: it reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill and cut the use of natural resources that should feed the production process.
